I cannot change my tag line.
This guitar is looking the way it does because of the OLF
Much of it was done with techniques and advice from all of you.
Still a newbie....been at it only since May

Yes Andy, but your hands are the ones building it.

Only since May. Gee your doing well. I don't even have one completed since than.

Keep up the good work and oh.... can we still see more pictures.

Thanks

Hey Hesh, if you want some Mac Eb, I think Doug at Bluespirit has (or had) some nice Mac Eb for sale, maybe you could alleviate the pain through him.

I think he sold those 2 sets that are up in the wood shed.

Those looked great.

I know Todd @ Allied has nice Macassar, and I bet Larry @ Gallery does as well. Bob has had some from time to time too.

I taped most of the footprint of the bridge and FB extension off for both the epoxy sealing and the finish application (KTM9). I figured that will reduce some of the scraping involved.

Yeah, it worked. I carefully scored the finish at the edge of the tape, and pulled off the tape without incident. That only left about 1/8" to scrape around the taped off area.

But ... be aware that if you do any wet sanding, water (if that's what you use) will get onto the exposed wood, and will soak under the finish and swell the wood rather unevenly. As you level it, you'll be making the finish flat, and when the swelling dries out, you're left with some uneven troughs that run perhaps 1/8" into the finished area along the grain.

By the way, I find that scraping is not at all difficult with a small piece cut from a regular sized scraper. Much quicker than the razor blade, though you may want to finish off the scraping with the razor. When I applied more KTM9 over the dorked up finish (posted in recent threads), I opted NOT to mask off and just scrape in order to avoid the problems with wet sanding.

Tony doesn't have e mail
His wife Jill takes the picts and then sends them to me from her work.
